Never lose vacation time at work again!
It’s hard for me to believe that 58% of Americans lose vacation time each year at work because it gets to the end of the year and they haven’t used all of their allotted vacation time. Use it or lose it! I assure you, that has NEVER happened to me!
I know a great way to use your vacation time…… a December cruise out of Galveston or New Orleans -- or – if you want to recover from the holidays, there’s a great one leaving from Mobile right after the New Year starts!
Carnival’s has a 3-day sale starting tomorrow (Nov 10)….and the prices are only good until Friday, November 12!
Call me ASAP (225-766-7132) if you are interested:
7-day cruise out of Galveston leaving 12-12-10 – 3 ports: Montego Bay, Cayman Islands, Cozumel –
interior: $449, balcony: $679

What Keeps Our Family Close
The Best Memories of My Life - family vacations
Every year of my life, my parents loaded my two sisters and me in the family car and headed to the beach. Now, mind you, we were by no means a ‘well-off’ family. Both of my parents worked hard – we lived in a rented house that had only ONE bathroom (for 5 people!) – & only ONE car that daddy took to work (and that car never had an air-conditioner because A/C’s cost extra……..Did I say we lived in MISSISSIPPI?) My mom walked to work and we all walked to school (and it truly WAS around 10 blocks!).
We spent all of our time out on the beach – because daddy would say, “we can go to a pool back home (the city pool), we don’t have a beach and an ocean back home”. I heard those SAME words come out of MY mouth when my OWN kids were little while on OUR annual beach trips. To this day, we all still LOVE the beach.
A few times we did go somewhere different – like the Smokey Mountains, New Orleans, & Hot Springs. One year we went to Albuquerque, New Mexico because my older sister wanted to see where she was born. That was the trip where she and I finally stopped fighting (after a lifetime of going at each other), because daddy TRULY DID pull over and try to put us out on the side of the road somewhere in west Texas. She and I agreed to call a truce – just for the remainder of the trip……but it has more or less remained intact for the last 40 years.
These are some of the most special memories of my life. It seemed to be the one time that mama and daddy relaxed and cut up with us girls. My daddy was a great amateur cartoonist, and captured even the silliest of things that happened in various drawings of our escapades. I remember we laughed about EVERYTHING……and I remember my daddy always saying, “We don’t have much money, but we have a LOT of LOVE”.
Vacations are sacred to me. I truly believe they are an integral part of keeping a family close. It gets us out of the daily routine and allows us to explore something new and different – including each other at a deeper level. Patrick and I took our own kids to the beach every year – as well as other great places like Yellowstone National Park, swimming with the stingrays in the Cayman Islands, white water rafting in North Carolina, snow skiing in Colorado, water skiing in Missouri, & snorkeling in Cozumel.
And although we go to other places, we always, ALWAYS have a least a few days at the Florida beach. My kids are grown now, but I don’t think they would ever miss a family vacation. My married daughter once asked me, “Mama, promise me, that no matter what, we’ll always ALL go the beach together every year.” Now what parent wouldn’t want to hear that????
Keep your family close - get to know your kids and spouse – RELAX, unwind, and have FUN. No one ever laid on their deathbed and said, “I wish I had worked more”. Have no regrets about missed opportunities to make beautiful memories and lasting bonds with your family. If you’ve been thinking of planning something for your family, DO IT. There is no better time than RIGHT NOW.

Four Cruise Ships in New Orleans
We are SO FORTUNATE to have 3 ports within driving distance - New Orleans, Mobile, and Galveston!! The BIG NEWS is that there will be FOUR ships to cruise out of New Orleans starting next year (2011)!
Carnival, Norwegian Cruise Lines, and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines will all be there!
Between November 2011 and April 2012, Royal Caribbean will be sending the Voyager of the Seas to New Orleans! This 3,114-passenger ship will be the largest to ever be based in the city. It will only take 7-day cruises and only has one itinerary....
1. 7-day itinerary will include: Falmouth,Jamaica; Cozumel, Mexico, and Grand Cayman!
It's not too soon to book your cruise for next year. The best prices are usually early and you absolutely have the best pick of cabins early! I already have a group set up for November 13-20, 2011 and there are still some cabins being held at a great group rate - including a $75 per stateroom on-board credit. Call me if you want one of them.

Turks and Caicos
Patrick and I just returned from a site inspection trip to the Beaches Resort in Turks & Caicos. What a BEAUTIFUL island! It's located just below the Bahamas - just north of the Dominican Republic. This would be a GREAT resort to take a multi-generational family because it has something for EVERYONE...... 16 specialty restaurants with everything from Caribbean to Japanese, Italian to French, Seafood to Sushi! 13 bars, a water park with a lazy river and surf simulator, Sesame Street characters for the kids, nightly entertainment.....and - of course - the GORGEOUS Caribbean Sea!!
What a view!! |
The Caribbean Sea is the most beautiful turquoise color you've ever seen! |
A CHOCOLATE BUFFET! Four long tables with chocolate in every imaginable way there is! This MUST be what heaven looks like! OF COURSE I indulged! |
Giuseppe's - and Italian restaurant. mmmmmm-good! |
Barefoot By The Sea - elegant dining right on the beach - except you get to take your shoes off and rub your feet in the sand. |
Surf simulator at the water park. Surf boards in the morning - boogie boards in the afternoon. |
Really cool for teenagers.....This building is filled with plasma screens and the latest video games on the market. |
Teenagers at play at the X-Box 360 Games Garage. There's probably 50 of these screens and games in this room! |
One of the many pools. |
The main pool. By the way....has a swim up bar too! |
Pool right on the beach. |
Adult only Jacuzzi - right on the beach. |
Part of a family suite....This is the kids' room - can sleep 3 kids here. |
Other wall in kids' room. Has it's own X-Box Video gaming system. |
Other half of family suite. King bed for mom and dad and that big chair in the corner folds out into a twin bed. |
Beach |
The beach on the beautiful Caribbean Sea. |
